Mixeren har 12 kanaler, hvoraf de 6 kanaler er udstyret med Yamahas vellydende D-Pre-preamps og phantom power. Der er insert-indgang på de første fire kanaler.

Mixeren har indbygget effekt-enhed med rumklange (hall, room, plate, stage), delay, chorus, flanger, phaser m.v. Mixeren har herudover en auxiliary effektkanal, hvor en ekstern effektenhed kan tilkobles.

Mixeren har tre-bånds equalizer på alle kanaler, og den har en stereo-gruppekanal.

The Yamaha MG12/4FX music mixer has 12 input channels: 4 mono microphone/line inputs and 4 stereo line inputs, 2 of which offer mono microphone input capability. 6 low-noise, high-precision mic preamps each feature switchable phantom power. All mono input channels have insert I/O patch points. 4 buses (stereo and group) for convenient channel grouping.

The console comes with smooth 3-band equalizers on all input channels. All mono microphone input channels also feature a switchable high-pass filter. 2 auxiliary sends on each channel—one post-fader and one switchable for pre- or post-fader operation plus a stereo auxiliary return. Illuminated ON (ST bus assign), PFL (pre-fader listen), and phantom-power switches. DSP provides a range of reverbs, delay, chorus, flanger, phaser, distortion, and other effects--a total of 16 types--with editable parameters.
